This
is an
activity
meter
for the
hard drive
of the
XBox.
It has
16 LEDS
on it,
with four
of them
constantly
lit up.
When there
is activity,
they "chase"
each other,
giving
a "box"
type effect.
Where
they are
constantly
equally
spaced
from each
other,
but rotating
around
the origin
of the
jewel.
You can
add more
LED's
to this
if you
want,
by putting
them in
another
parallel
set ..
or, if
you want
to just
add more
leds outside
the four
constantly
lit..
like,
say you
want only
two lit
or if
you want
only one
lit, then
you can
change
the connection
of the
reset
pin (15),
.. like
if you
wanted
to have
20 led's
in a circle
with two
chasers..
you would
take one
of the
parallel
circuits
away,
so instead
of the
path being
split
into four,
it would
be split
into two.
and you
could
take away
the connection
from pin
1 to pin
15, and
continue
all the
way down
to pin
11 with
leds coming
out..
and have
pin 15
and pin
8 connect,
then go
to ground.
So just
connect
the pins
in order
that they
are on
the layout
of the
circuit
for however
many you
want..
i.e. 8
leds to
be lit
up, without
adding
more in
a parallel,
pin 6
would
have the
last led,
then you
would
connect
pin 9
to pin
15. if
you have
any questions,
FEND FOR
YOURSELVES..
or email
me at
ifoundthetao@aol.com.
if i am
wrong
about
anything,
please
let me
know..
hopefully
everything
is correct,
but i
would
suggest
asking
someone
who knows
more about
this type
of thing
on this
forum..
i'm not
too great
at designing
circuits,
but this
one should
work..
This circuit
was a
Bob Bowden
circuit,
then jamella
changed
it around
a little
bit, then
i changed
it to
this..
ok.. i
think
everyone
who needs
credit
for this
got it..
so hopefully
nobody
will get
pissed..
ok ..

oh yeah..
incase
anyone
is confused
about
the picture
that is
attached
to this
.. the
thickness
of the
lines
determines
which
leds should
be connected
to each
other..
they're
all identified,
and they're
marked
on the
4017 IC
as well..
and you'll
have to
calculate
the ohms
on the
resistor
too, so
you can
choose
what type
of leds
you want..
.. ok..
i think
thats
it now..
