Section
III :
Eliminating
the need
for a
PC
This
section
will cover
the following
items:
Ø
Copying
Homebrew
utilities
to the
XBOX
to run
from
the
harddrive
Ø
Auto-Adding
items
to the
menu
of Evolution-X
Hardware
required
for this
section:
Ø
XBOX
Ø
Crossover
cable
if connecting
directly
to the
pc
Ø
Standard
LAN
cable
(CAT5)
if connecting
to a
hub
Ø
Television
with
at least
RCA
Jacks
(so
we can
see
what
we are
doing)
Software
Required
for this
section:
Ø
XboxCopy
(025
is the
current)
Ø
boXplorer
(B96
is current)
Procedures:
1)
Copying
Homebrew
utilities
to the
XBOX:
with the
video,
power,
LAN, and
controller
all plugged
in, turn
the XBOX
on. When
it has
finished
booting
and is
now at
the evolution
screen,
FTP into
the XBOX
using
FlashFXP
(connect
to the
site we
made in
“Section
I”).
Once connected,
double
click
on the
“F”
drive.
You will
need to
create
two directories
here,
an “apps”
directory,
and a
“games”
directory.
Once these
two directories
have been
made,
double
click
on the
“apps”
directory,
create
a directory
and call
it whatever
you like
(this
is for
“xboxcopy”),
but I
try to
name directories
something
that will
be easy
to remember
as I sometimes
consider
myself
slow :P.
After
you have
created
the new
directory,
transfer
all of
the files
from the
“xboxcopy”
rar file
you uncompressed
on your
PC. If
you system
is set
up correctly,
you should
be able
to disconnect
from the
FTP, reboot
the XBOX,
and go
to the
“Launch
Menu”
menu,
then to
the “apps”
menu,
then you
SHOULD
be able
to see
“XbCopy”
on the
menu.
If you
are able
to, reconnect
to the
xbox via
FlashFXP
from your
PC and
repeat
the process
over again
(minus
creating
the “apps”
and “games”
directories
of course)
for “XboxPlorer”.
Now that
you have
two of
the Homebrew
Utilities
(the two
best out
atm IMHO)
on your
XBOX,
you now
have no
need for
a PC in
regards
to copying
original
games
to the
hard drive.
You will,
however,
still
need a
PC when
putting
Homebrew
utilities
on the
XBOX or
whatever
else.
