.bik
files
are movie
files
used in
certain
xbox games.
With a
few tools
you can
edit/make
the .bik
files
in these
games
to be
what ever
you want!
First
off there
are a
couple
small
tools
you'll
need.
1.RAD
Video
Tools
2.FlashFXP
These
two tools
are fundamental
in transferring
and creating
.bik files.
3.A
video
editor(Adobe
Premiere)
4.A
sound
editor(ProTools)
5.An
image
editor(Adobe
Photoshop)
The last
four don't
have to
be used.
If you'd
like to
have a
personal
.bik I
recommend
them!
To my
knowledge
RAD Video
Tools
is the
only one
you'll
have to
use.
You should
know how
to work
FlashFXP
before
starting
on this.
One problem
you can
run into
is not
having
the File
Exists
Rules
set wrong
in FlashFXP.
They should
all be
set to
Auto Overwrite.
Otherwise
the files
might
not FTP
correctly.
Using
RAD Video
Tools
can be
confusing.
When you
open RAD
up you'll
see a
file window,
a bink
button,
a smack
button,
and 12
other
buttons.
The bink
it! button
will get
used the
most.
STEP
1.
Use FlashFXP
to locate
a .bik
file you'd
like to
edit on
the Xbox.
bik files
are usually
found
in folders
labeled
movies
or bink
but can
be located
in other
directories.
Copy the
selected
bik file
onto your
PC's Harddrive.
Once RAD
Video
Tools
is installed
onto your
computer
you can
double
click
the bik
and view
it to
make sure
it's the
one you
want.
If it
is too
large
of a file,
remembering
the file's
name will
work.
STEP
2.
Make a
backup
of the
file you'll
be editing.
The original
will need
to be
replaced
in order
to FTP/burn
the edited
bik into
the game's
directories.
STEP
3.
Open RAD.
Select
a media
file you'd
like to
make a
bik file
out of
and hit
the bink
it! button.
Check
the Output
File Info
and make
sure it
will be
saved
as a bik
file.
You can
brows
to the
bik file
you want
to replace,
or you
can save
as a new
bik file
and rename
it later.
The larger
the dimensions
are of
the file,
the larger
it will
appear
on the
T.V. Smaller
files
will not
be blown
up to
fit the
screen.
Once you
hit bink
it! you
can select
the options
you prefer.
Hit the
bink button
on the
right
once you're
ready.
STEP
4.
Then place
the file
back into
the correct
folder
and burn,
or FTP
it back
to your
hdd.
TIPS:
The length
of the
bik does
not matter.
It can
be as
long as
you'd
like,
if your
HDD/disc
has enough
space,
or as
short,
saving
space
for other
files!
You can
exchange
movies
from game
to game
by renaming
the files.
Letting
you watch
bails
from Tony
Hawk as
Halo's
credits.
Rip the
sound
from the
bik your
changing
and use
the mix
in sound
option
in RAD
for a
cool effect.
Original
bik files
are usually
640x480.
The closer
the original
file is
to that
size the
better
it will
look on
your television.
Rad video
tools
uses some
audio
codecs
from QuickTime
so try
updating
it if
you have
trouble
with audio.

Dopant

Some games
use biks
with odd
dimensions.
Check
the bik's
width
and height
before
binking
the file.
PROBLEMS:
If the
edited
bik:
*does
not play
on the
xbox;
check
your FlashFXP
settings.
"smack"
the file
and then
bink that
smk.
*plays
with no
sound

settings

If the
bik's
creation
is successful
you'll
see the
change.
If it
wasn't
the game
usually
skips
over the
bik.
