Making a backup under Mac OS X (v0.1)

Transmit2 and osXiso: Better Together!

Connecting to Your XBox

Get Transmit2 from Panic Software. I recommend buying it - it's a great FTP client for Mac OS X. Turn on your XBox and load up EvolutionX. Run Transmit2 and connect to your XBox. I find it easier to save my XBox's static IP as a favorite for quick, easy access.

Copying Files

Change directory over to the D: drive, where the game lives. Make a new folder in Your Stuff, and drag all the files from D: over to the folder in Your Stuff.

Wait while it copies the files.

Make the ISO

Run osXiso, and type in the path to the folder you made, making sure to use a trailing slash/ Type in the path to where you want the new ISO to be, preferably with the .iso extension.

Burn

Run Toast, and choose Disk Image from the Other menu. Click "Select..." and find the file. Make sure you uncheck "Auto Detect Format." In doing this, it will ask you for values in the next window. Using 0,0,2048 works. Once you have chosen the ISO, hit Record, and burn the ISO to a blank DVD-R or DVD-RW. I use media from supermediastore.com. It's affordable, and works just fine.

Note: Don't pirate XBox games. Developers have to make money, too. I built osXiso for legal backup purposes only!
