Hello guys and gals. This is a tutorial to show you how to mod your Madcatz Micoron Controller with two LED's.

First let's get that small jewel off. use a small flat head and pry underneath it. It should pop off very easily without much force. Take the glue off the back. It's not much glue, you should be able to roll your thumb over it to get it off.

Now let's sand and polish the jewel.

You shouldn't need your dremel to sand such a small peice of plastic. I used (Grey) 220 grain to get most of the paint off. Then followed up with (grey) 1500 grain (really smooth stuff) to finish it off.

You may polish it down if you like but it's not required, light will still come though with out it. If you do decide to polish then use your Dremel Polishing Kit to do it. On a low setting....work the polish in for about 30 seconds....allow 10 sec to dry then finish it off with a soft cloth. it should look like this now.

Tack 4 small super glue pionts to hold it in place.

OKay done with that now it's time to open this mofo.

Turn over your Madcatz controller and remove the 7 screws on the back.

Once opened you will have to also unscrew two screws that hold the board to the controller. They are located at the right next to the triggers on the inside of the controller as shown here.

Take out the shock motors and wights at the bottom of controller. DO NOT DISCONNECT just let tem stay on there and move them with the controller board off to the side. Take all the buttons and put them off in a safe place.

Okay moving along, Now your front peice is accesible with no jewel to get in the way. Time to drill. I used my Dremel multi purpose drill bit to get through it and I drilled many hlose in a circle to get most of the plastic out.

Afterwards I used a small sanding bit on the Dremel to buff and finish it off. remember to LEAVE A LIP in that oval when sanding! If you don't your jewel will just fall thorugh the hole and that's all you will be left with is a holy controller.

Now take your board and carefully turn it over and remove the hot glue from the back of the memory card on top the pins as shown here

Have some wiring ready...for this mod i used 20 ga. but you can go smaller, you will also need your 2 LED's and a 330-Ohm resistor. Solder them as shown in this pic...or if you know a faster better way have at it. but make sure your resistor is connected to the positive (longer) connections on BOTH led's. the negitave (shorter) runs stragiht to the ground pin.

After you setup your wiring for your LED's Tape all open ends with electrical tape like this.....

Time to solder these wires to your controller.... You will need to solder your positive to the 5v out, and the negitiave to the ground.

When done it should look something similar to this.

Reassemble and your done!!! :D

When reassembeling make sure you set the lights to their desired place right before you put the yellow jackket for the memory cards back. Also when putting the controller board back on top of the front (side with buttons) of the controller make sure you have your macro button slipped around the macro LED that was put in the controller by madcatz dont crush this LED, it may not work after you do.

Enjoy :D Happy Modding!
