Part 1 – XBL on/off switch Mod

i was looking at my xbox live communicater adaptor it is pretty bulky.. wondering if i could stick a switch in there like same way Ferrell did for his memory card and wire it similair .. would it work? Lets see

2 screws and 2 small clips on top of the C/A (communicator adaptor) holds it together.
Just unscew and carefully unclip the top tabs and open it up..

I was able to find one of these switches at my local shop.. I rounded up the blue plastic a bit so I could fit the pen plastic on it to extend the switch up a bit..

Ok the picture is self-explanatory, you just wire any pin of the switch to pin 1 on the C/A
And pin 2 on the switch to pin 2, now the hard part… (not really) is to fit the switch in so it fits nice.. I used a bit of electrical tape but hot glue be way easier to raise the switch up a bit so the pen plastic would slide through the hole I drilled into the faceplate..

Close it up and this is what your finished product should look like. Congratulations! You finished step 1 of this mod now… so far so good eh?

Part II … the Yellow Wire

Ok to get the switch to work you are going to have to open up your xbox and take a look at that yellow wire coming from controller Port 1 (or whatever controller port you intend to use this mod on) you have 2 choices.. cut that wire.. or pull it out from the socket.. I did option 2..
Which allows me to just plug the yellow wire back in after if I don’t want this mod anymore.

Anyways.. take that yellow wire from controller port 1 and extend it so it can reach your power assembly , give it a bit of slack so you can work with it…

I used a green line to extend my yellow wire and soldered it to pin 2 on my power assembly..
Please be VERY careful not to bridge the connection between the pins with too much solder or its going to kill it..

Here’s a alternate route to take if step 1 is too hard for you.. just splice the 2nd line from the bottom with the extended yellow controller port 1 wire..Connect your power assembly back into your xbox and screw it back up.. turn it on and enjoy!

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
i also ran into 2 versions of XBL ADAPTORS...

version 1 - comes with Whacked .. MotoGP demo bundle.. can use the mute button anytime (light turns red and green when you press it)

version 2 - comes with Full version of Tetris Worlds online and mechassault demo etc..
CANNOT use mute button anytime.. only in XBL game mode you can switch mute on/off.. otherwise it will be locked on green.. on..

so dont think your XBL com is broken if you have a V2 and cant mute it LOL.. i did it drove me crazy for 1 hour till i figured it out :-)
