Fixing your USB Daughter board Part2 (v0.1)

Broke your USB daughterboard on your XBOX? Join the club. I not only broke one inductor but both of them, meaning both ports 3 and 4 were busted. I found a tutorial on fixing the daughterboard at http://www.xgen-mods.com/...

I read the tutorial but quickly realized that it was way too difficult for me to accomplish. I decided to bust out the multimeter and try to figure out how to bypass the traces from the broken inductors and just use plain wire to reconnect the broken leads with plain old solder instead of kynar wire like the previous link instructs. To do this I soldered plain wires (really small gauge) from the back of the controller ports 3 and 4 connector (the white one), all the way to the tiny resistors for each connection. This method completely bypasses the circuit board traces that include the broken inductor points. My method requires moderate soldering skills and is a simple and quick alternative to trying to fix the daughterboard via the xgen-mods method or by replacing the daughterboard. You more timid people can indeed buy a new board at http://www.llamma.com/xbox/parts.htm for $8. Here is an illustration of where each solder point should be made. This illustration is to repair both ports 3 and 4. If you only need to repair one of the ports, just keep this in mind: the left side of the white connector is for port 3 and the right side is for port 4, i.e., the yellow and red wires in the illustration are for port 3 and the blue and purple wires are for port 4.
