v1.4:

NitroXX:
First
you need
to install
it , before
you can
flash
it (needs
power).
Installation
of the
modchip
is like
expected
- it's
a typical
LPC wire-install
(LPC points
are very
easy -
the d0
is medium)
with a
few more
wires
if you
want to
use the
reset/power
button
for the
modchip
en/disable.
There
are very
good instruction
manuals
- sadly
these
manuals
are only
available
in german
atm. The
tutorial
also explains
how you
can install
a status
LED on
the NitroXX.
The NitroXX
was tested
successfully
- flashing
(via PC
with PC-BioXX
v1.4 program)
worked
without
any problems.
Bios switching
and en/disable
worked.
The biggest
downside
is that
you can't
flash
the NitroXX
with xbox
software
(like
via EvolutionX).
POSITIVE:
+ New
version
of the
legendary
OpenXbox/PC-BioXX
+ 1x 1024
, 2x 512k
, 4x 256k
bios switching
+ Disable
mod option
with power/reset-button
for xlive
(no extra
switch)
+ Flasher
included
- no risks
of bad
flashes
+ PC-NitroXX
flasher
(win32
program
to flash
your modchip)
works
like a
charm
+ Distributed
without
bios -
fully
legal
+ 1024k
max size
... good
for possible
larger
bios releases
+ Easy
solder
install
NEGATIVE:
- Not
flashable
via xbox
software
- Price
- All
documents
are in
german
(english
version
should
come soon)
IR-Mod:
There
are 2
version
of the
IR-mod.
One that
needs
soldering
, the
other
not. Installation
is not
straightforward
so you'll
need the
installation
guides.
They are
again
only in
german
so far
, but
the pictures
really
tell enough
, so you
shouldn't
have any
real problem
to install
it. You
will also
need a
remote
- I tested
it with
the official
Xbox remote
and it
worked
fine.
I'm not
sure if
it can
also work
with other
remotes.
The installation
requires
to take
power
directly
from the
power
cables
(the no-solder
IRmod
'pinches'
the cables)
which
is kinda
strange
, but
it works
fine.
The IRmods
allows
to power
of/off
your xbox
, eject
, en/disable
the modchip
and change
bios with
the remote.
If your
games
are on
the hard
drive
you really
don't
have to
come near
your xbox
anymore
- that's
really
great
:-)
This modchip
has been
tested
with the
NitroXX
, but
all functions
except
the bios
selection
will of
course
also work
with other
modchips.
POSITIVE:
+ IR-mod
addon
is original
and adds
a cool
new feature
to the
xbox
+ No need
to touch
your xbox
anymore
... you
can operate
everything
with the
remote
+ Price
(you need
the Xbox
remote
though)
NEGATIVE:
- All
documents
are in
german
(english
version
should
come soon)
- Installation
is not
so obvious
, but
the nosolder
version
should
be easy
enough
for most
people.
