Rumor: MS quadrupling Kinect accuracy?
>> From eurogamer.net:
Microsoft's Kinect team is said to be working "very hard" on a switching or compression technology that will allow a greater amount of data to pass through Kinect to the Xbox 360 console.
The depth sensor used by Kinect is also dictated by firmware – it is currently set at a 30 frames per second limit and a 320x240 resolution limit. At a 640x480 resolution, however, Kinect could begin to detect fingers and hand rotation – an effective quadrupling of its accuracy.
The issue relates to the USB controller interface, Eurogamer was told. It is capable of around 35MB/s, but it only uses around 15/16MB/s. This artificial limit is in place because multiple USB devices can be used at once on an Xbox 360.
More on Hitachi-LG DL10N Slim Drive: 360 MFR date, Tray Compare, ...
>> We got some more details about the new Hitachi-LG DL10N DVD drive found in recent Xbox360 Slim consoles.
Heezer reported on our forums he also got a Hitachi-LG DL10N drive in his Xbox360 Kinect 4GB Bundle he bought in Germany. He posted some much requested information about the MFR date and factory details of the Xbox360 console:
MFR date: 2010-10-09 [that's October 9th 2010] Xbox 360 S console, M$ corporation, Model 1439, Redmond, WA 98052-6399 USA serial number: 46XXXXXX 04105
This means: production year: 0 (2010) week: 41 factory code: 05
Of course at this moment we don't have enough data to know if 2010-10-09 is the first Manufacture Date with these drives, neither to know exactly in which factories or production lines these new drives are used. But if you have a 360 made on or after 2010-10-09 in factory 05, line 4 chances are you have a DL10N.
I also updated our Xbox360 DVD drive brand/model detection guide to include the DL10N. As many of you probably already noticed the Hitachi-LG DL10N has a different DVD-tray from any other Xbox360 DVD drive, so it's easy to find out if you have one without opening your 360 case. I added a picture of the tray posted by Soloyo next to the 3 other types of trays so you can easily compare them.
Soloyo also posted a few new pictures of the DL10N internals which you can see here, here and here.

New DVD Drive Found in Slim 360: Hitachi-LG DL10N
>> Soloyo posted some interesting info on our forums about a completely new DVD model he found in his Xbox360 Slim console. It looks like Hitachi-LG is back with a new DVD drive model (DL10N) for Slim consoles using a Panasonic chipset:
H-L Model: DL10N LGE-DMDL10N(B) Rom Ver:0500AA
The console, sold in a Kinect Bundle Pack, was bought in South,TX USA. The drive itself was produced in September 2010, but atm we do not have the manufacturing date, factory or production line of the 360 console itself. If anyone else found this drive in a 360, please let us know in the forum thread!

C4E's iXtreme LT+ v1.1 for LiteOn and BenQ - Hitachi 78/79 LT+ News
>> C4E released a new version of the iXtreme LT+ modified FW for ("phat") LiteOn (74850, 83850V1, 83850V2, 93450) and BenQ DVD-drives.
What's new/fixed: - xbox 1 backup support (iXtreme compatible, DVD9 only) - improved pfi support
There's also some WIP news about the LT+ FW for Hitachi-LG drives on team-xecuter.com:
Plus after much work and heavy testing, C4E has finished the LT+ for Hitachi 78 and 79 and it is confirmed that they now boot AP25 backups ! We are currently testing and hope to announce the official release shortly. There are also plans to make LT firmware for the older Hitachi drives but without Ap25 as it’s not required. LT+ for Slims is the priority at the moment. FYI iXtreme 1.51 still works just fine with AP25 (many are still using the older Hitachi’s on XBL – however we can’t guarantee that it is XBL safe so use at your own risk).
