The Eeprom Clone Experiment: do NOT change the MAC address

NEO DVD-R PREMIUM

This disk , specially optimized for PS2 & xbox , really has an unbeatable price/quality.
I have been trying on ALL 3 xbox dvd-roms and it works perfect at x1!
I also tried to burn them at x2 (with cracked pioneer firmware) at it worked without problems on the Philips & Samsung drive , even the crappy Thompson drive did boot the dvd , but somwhat slower and shocks when playing FMV's.
This is really a disk with the quality of a verbatim dvd-r , but for half the price.

* Number of frames drawn late has reduced by about 40-50% so things should appear to move more smoothly.

X-ecuter2 Lite - 1mb bios

If you leave the bios-jumper on ("1st 512k") it does infact boot from 0x00000 and thus also works fine with a 1mb bios.
Team X-ecuter also let us know they plan to release homebrew schematics similar to cheaplpc to flash from LPT and that the pogo-pin adaptor is expected for 01/2003.

Media X Menu 0.9e released!

* I ==THINK== I have the empty description bug fixed. It has been tested, and should work. The details are still a mystery to me, though... but my fix has done the trick.
* A little change in the way autoconfig works... if you define entries in the MXM.xml file, then AllowAutoConfig defaults to FALSE, if there are no entries in the MXM.xml file, it defaults to TRUE. Of course, you can specify your own value for this as well.

The Eeprom Clone Experiment : join same game

They announced earlier , they can both connect to xlive & play different games with the same (unbanned) eeprom.
Now they announced that if they change the MAC address of one of the 2 xboxes (rest of eeprom is still exactly the same) they could also join the SAME game!

What you need to install it:
* a v1.0 or v1.1 xbox
* a TORX 10
* a TORX 20
* Solder Equipment
First let's check what they advertise :
* 1mb bios : true
* 2x 512k bios jumper : true
* disable jumper : true
* flash-protection : tue
* works on all models/regions : true (v1.0 & v1.1)
* flashable using evox : true
1.Install the Modchip:
No need to flash it , it's already preflashed.
X-ecuter2 Lite comes with the X-ecuter2 bios/kernel for v1.0 & v1.1 xbox.
With the jumper you can choose which bios/kernel you want to use. (with jumper: v1.0 , without jumper: v1.1).
Both the wire-install & headerpin-install are VERY easy.
WIRES:
If you have a min. of experience you don't have to take the xbox out of the case , but if you are scared to f*** up then you better take the motherboard out of the case and use the "d0" on the back of the board.
Yes , you have to solder , but those 8 LPC points are really HUGE. The d0 on top of the board (a "via") is somewhat harder (especially if you never soldered before) ... but you can also take the easy alternative "d0" on the bottom of the board.
The ground is taken from the screw near the LPC. It's very easy : just unscrew , place the connector and place screw back.
HEADER-PIN:
If you install with the header-pin you have to remove one of the pins (the position where there's no hole ... 2nd left from bottom on the image). Put the header-pin with the shortest side in the LPC points (remove solder first ofcourse). Then solder each pin in place on the back of the board.
Don't forget to connect the "small wire adaptor" (ground & d0). You can choose which d0 you want to use.
Ground is just like with the wire adaptor , it's placed between screw & motherboard.
POGO-PINS:
If you really don't want to solder in your xbox , you can wait for the pogo-pin adaptor that's expected after newyear.
2.Testing:
Everything worked like expected.
At the moment you can only flash a new bios with EvolutionX (or xflash). So you'll have to "make" a 1mb bios yourself (2 x 512k bios).
Standard bios releases are 256k , so what you have to do is you choose 2 bioses you want , make of both a 512k version (2 exact copies) and then put the two 512k bioses together in 1 big 1024k bios.
Flash that file with evo-x and you'll have the 2 new bioses correctly flashed on your X2L.
I think special software will be released soon so you can select which part you want to flash.
With the flash protection jumper you can prevent that a program flashes your modchip without you knowing it.
With the mod disable jumper you can desactivate the modchip and boot from the original bios on your xbox. Usefull when you want to play on xbox live. NEVER go on xlive with your modchip activated!
POSITIVE:
+ 2x512k bios switch
+ disable mod jumper for xlive
+ flash protection (MS can't flash your mod)
+ flash new bios directly via xbox software (evox - soon x-ecuter own made prog)
+ Pin-header is good idea for future (if ever need to upgrade to new modchip)
+ a solder-install can't be easier then this
+ easy to add external switches instead of jumpers
NEGATIVE:
+ risk of bad flash - can't flash with LPT
+ pogo-pin adaptor is not yet released for those afraid of soldering (01/2003)
