IBM Unveils World's Fastest eDRAM
>> From teamxbox.com: [QUOTE] At the International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), IBM has revealed a first-of-its-kind, on-chip memory technology that features the fastest access times ever recorded in eDRAM.
Embedded Dynamic Random Access Memory is the same type of memory used in the daughter-die of the Xbox 360's graphics processing unit. This new eDRAM designed by IBM, who helped create the three-core PowerPC central processing unit found in the Xbox 360, dramatically improves on-processor memory performance in about one-third the space with one-fifth the standby power of conventional static random access memory.
