Hackers Set to Target Gamers

Reports arose last month suggesting that Microsoft's Xbox Live network had been hacked. While this proved not to be the case, Microsoft did admit that support staff had compromised security by being tricked into releasing customers' account details. Experts view this trend of fraudulentlty extracting details, known as phishing, as just the beginning of what will be a sustained attempt by hackers to target game players, says a report.
With online cpabilities playing such a prominent role in today's console market, a security analyst for Australia's Computer Emergency Response Team (Auscert), MacLeonard Starkey says, "I haven't seen any malicious code that is specifically designed to run on a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox but I would expect it is not very far away at all."
