More About Xbox 360 pricing: Opinions and GameStop Bundles Hit 1200usd
>> * Gamasutra posted the results of their "question of the week" about the Xbox360 pricing: [QUOTE] Last week's Question of the Week simply asked our professional audience: “What do you think of the Xbox 360's launch pricing, and what are your views on Microsoft's multi-tiered Xbox 360 bundling strategy?” Overall, and regarding the actual cost for Microsoft's console, the response was reasonably positive, with many thinking that the pricing was fairly competitive, and a minority of complaints. Opinions varied, however, when it came to the multi-bundling strategy. The chief major concern from a developer perspective seemed to be over the lack of a hard drive in the core system, essentially splitting the Xbox 360 user-base in two. * Yesterday EBgames announced their 'forced' bundles for online pre-order of the Xbox 360, one at 600usd the other at 700usd. Today GameStop launched their pre-order offers, and just like EBgames they force bundles for their online pre-orders. Gamestop goes one step further though, their cheapest offer goes for 700usd and this doesn't even include a HD, their top bundle goes for 1200usd! The 1200usd "Ultimate Bundle" includes: The Premium Xbox 360 system, Perfect Dark, PGR3, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dead or Alive 4, Call of Duty 2, Gun, Quake 4, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, Condemned, Madden NFL 06, Kameo, a 2nd wireless controller, play and charge kit, rechargeable battery, Xbox Live 12 month card, 1 year product replacement plan. According to next-gen.biz you can pre-order the official Microsoft Premium 399usd and Core 299usd Xbox360 package from you local EBgames and Gamestop store, but not online. More about these bundles is also available on gamespot.com. GameStop lists the Xbox 360 for a November 1st launch, but it's more likely to become a mid-november launch. Also worth noting, according to the Gamestop listing it looks like Microsoft will only be charging $49.99 for their first-party games (Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero). 3rd party games are currently listed for $59.99 though.
