The Media Center Extender is an 'official' alternative to XboxMediaCenter(info), it will allow you to connect your Xbox console with a Windows Media Center PC. It allows you to 'stream' several services from your MCE PC onto your TV through the Xbox:
* Watch and record television shows.
* Enjoy a free integrated TV Program Guide with no fees.
* Access your Media Center PC’s digital media library music, videos, and pictures.
* Stay connected with instant messaging and Xbox Live™.
* Watch DVD movies.
* Listen to FM and Internet radio.

More info about this product is available on xbox.com. If your Xbox is modified you better get XboxMediaCenter thought ... it's not only a lot cheaper (free to be exact) it's also better for video and music playback :-). For Live-TV and recording there's also a free alternative on Xbox, run mythTV on an Xbox-Linux distro.
