More about new v1.3 Xbox
>> Ubergeek (Team Xecuter) posted more information about the new Xbox version on our forums:
[QUOTE]
I have an xbox that is now known as the v1.3 due to the fact that it has a posssible new RC4 key / MCPX makeup

I reported the news to xbox-scene about a week ago due to a few suspicions and today I can confirm the suspicions are correct.

Manufacture Date: 21st March 2003
DVD Drive: Philips
Hard Drive: Seagate ST310014ACE
Kernel version: 5101.01
Dashboard version: 4920.01
MCPX X3: FB0308.1 0246D1 (Yes thats right its called X3 lol )
Flash Rom Device: Winbond 49F020T 256k

I can confirm that the xbox boots to LPC on d0 > ground, however FRAGS on current bios versions, indicating change of RC4.

I dumped the bios after removing and reading in my programmer to find that it has a very similar header and makeup to the v1.1 but it will not unpack with the current RC4 keys. I must note that the programmer would not read the flash rom correctly as a 49F020T - it seemed to throw up a range of errors (very unusual perhaps some new form of protection? or perhaps I was a little drunk when dumping - who knows ?) This was easily worked around as the programmer / software is our own build so didn't take too long to get what we wanted.

So now we are dumping the MCPX with our own tried and tested methods (you may remember we dumped the v1.0 and v1.1 MCPX previousley)

Hopefully this is successful and we will of course unpack the new v1.3 kernel and create a new bios. It will either be a new X2 version (if the generic bootloader is indeed generic to this version) or we shall simply proceed with the X3 series.

Another interesting part of the thread:
BenJeremy: "Also interesting is that the multi-boot trick is not working, since a simple RC4 change should not effect it, right? It used a method to bypass the loader altogether, IIRC. I guess M$ **DID** learn from that release. Have you tried the other alternative 'back door' method, that hasn't been released to the general public? "
Ubergeek: "M$ learnt from the released generic bootloader - they also found the other backdoor from this - both are now plugged. I have every faith we'll get the RC4 though - we've not been stopped before"
